Aller Aqua’s procurement team works from our headquarters in Aller, a small town close to historic Christiansfeld in Denmark. From here, we support our global operations and work closely with suppliers across markets and raw material categories.
Our team brings together people from several nationalities, reflecting the international nature of our business and the global supply chains behind high-quality fish feed.
Clear category responsibility
Following recent changes in our procurement organization, we have streamlined responsibilities to ensure clearer ownership and stronger supplier dialogue.

At Aller Aqua, responsible sourcing is part of how we work. We were among the first Danish companies to actively engage with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with a particular focus on four priority goals.
For us, procurement is not only about securing raw materials. It is about selecting the right partners, maintaining high standards and supporting the long-term development of sustainable aquaculture.
Producing high-quality, sustainable fish feed begins with strong supplier partnerships. By working closely with our suppliers, we help ensure that every ingredient meets our requirements for performance, sustainability, safety and traceability.
All suppliers and raw materials go through a thorough approval process, which may include:
Initial evaluation meetings
Certification and compliance checks
Laboratory analysis
On-site audits
Documentation reviews
Raw material-specific questionnaires
Once approved, suppliers are regularly evaluated against seven key performance parameters. This helps us maintain compliance with our standards and supports continuous improvement in quality, reliability and sustainability.
We value suppliers who take a proactive and engaged approach to our partnership. Sharing relevant market trends, industry developments and innovative solutions helps us make right decisions in a rapidly changing global market.
The strongest supplier relationships are built on transparency, timely communication and a shared ambition to improve.
Our Danish facility was the first in Denmark to achieve Aquaculture Stewardship Council certification. Recently, our German plant was also ASC certified.
The ASC standard includes strict criteria for environmental stewardship, animal welfare, fair labour conditions and traceability. To meet these requirements, we request relevant certificates and audit reports from suppliers. These may include MSC, EuropeSoy, MarinTrust, Sedex/Smeta, ISCC+ and others, depending on the raw material and supply chain.
Our R&D facility in Büsum, Germany, plays an important role in developing and securing high-quality raw materials.
Since 2013, we have carried out more than 150 trials focusing on palatability, digestibility, growth, health and quality. We frequently invite suppliers to visit the facility, creating a strong connection between procurement, research and practical feed performance.
We are always interested in working with suppliers who share our focus on quality, responsibility, documentation and long-term collaboration.
Strong partnerships help us secure better raw materials, better feed and better results for aquaculture producers worldwide.
