What is the CO2-emission of your fish feed?

In 2020 we took an active choice to stop using South American soya, based on the rising concerns of deforestation. We made a complete turnaround in sourcing in less than a year and have now ensured that our feed production in Europe uses 100% regionally produced certified soya.

An added benefit of the initiative is the large reduction in CO2 emission. The organisation FiBL (Research Institute of Organic Agriculture) on behalf of the Donau Soja organisation has calculated that replacing the South American soya in a typical salmon feed with soya from Europe, can reduce the CO2 emission by as much as 41%.

For you to be able to document the CO2 value of your chosen feed, we have decided to take this a step further. We have therefore initiated a new project to CO2 label all the feeds we produce in our EU-factories. This will make it easy for you to make an informed and sustainable choice when choosing what to feed your fish. We aim to launch our CO2 labelling within the first half of 2021.

You can rest assured that we are using standardised methods also used by other international feed producers. As far as we know, we are the first in the market to take this measure – and we are proud of that!
